Soundtrack to a Life

The album cover for Santogold

Santogold- Santogold
A Rolling Stone tribute review: If MIA and Tegan and Sara had a bastard child, who in its early teens contracted an incurable STD from Regina Spektor and later has a polygamous lesbian relation with The Knife and prepubescent Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This reveiw is stupid, I don't even read Rolling Stone. "Now, won't you run and tell your boyfriend? Tell him, don't hold his breath for me."

The album cover for The Con

The Con - Tegan & Sara
Tegan and Sara with synthezisers. I listened to the hell out of So Jealous, and although this is not a better album, there are songs on The Con that are better than anything on So Jealous. Nineteen motivated me to begin a short story, maybe someday I'll finish it. "Well nobody likes to, but I really like to cry. Nobody likes me maybe, if I cry.".

The album for Our Love to Admire

Our Love to Admire - Interpol
Interpol was one of the most uneventful, boring, and insultingly short concerts I'd ever seen. Then they waited for ten minutes and played Obstacle 1 as an encore. It was sweeping and one of the best live moments I'd seen. The best Interpol album, there are moments on this CD that create those feeling. Favorite tracks: The Scale, All Fired Up, and (my favorite) Rest My Chemistry. "I will strike you with desire of fault lines, no clutch, no storm.".

Amnesiac- Radiohead
Music to have sex to, music to die to. Someone once told me Amnesiac was a weaker Radiohead album. I believed that, and then I heard it. A masterpiece, and one of my most played albums for several years. "I jumped in the river and what did I see? Black-eyed angels swam with me...".

The cover of Letting off the Happiness

Letting Off the Happiness - Bright Eyes
Conor Oberst is a polarizing singer. I'm on the side that finds him amazing. Letting Off the Happiness is not as overwhelming as Fevers and Mirrors, or as memorable as Lifted, but it's still a great album. Like any Bright Eyes album it has a lot of filler. Favorite tracks: If Winter Ends, Padriac my Prince, Pull My Hair, and (my favorite) Contrast and Compare.

The cover of Young Machines

The Young Machines - Her Space Holiday
I was given this album in Prague while my computer was being repaired. For a month it was one of only two CDs I owned. The songs are beautiful, the track order poorly chosen, and it can be played at parties, before falling asleep, and while making out on a couch. "I used to know this girl, who gave her love away, to every guy she met, with all the games they played.".
