I return to Prague for the first time in a year and half. It’s mostly the same, a few new bars, a few names have changed, but the rest has survived. The changes are much less dramatic then after the first time I left junior year and returned the following April. The Czech’s rising affluence has ground to a halt, and it’s even more clear that the consumer had been catered too much too fast.
Still the is city capable of bringing about the same emotions: extreme highs and lows, never apathy, which makes it a great place to be to write. The only real change is among the friends that still remain. Most have settled into a domestic comfort, even my most emotionally stunted friends are trying to have successful relationships. They all look at my life with cute amusement, a grown up watching a child, but what can I criticize? They seem happy.
